Mar Menor
This unique lagoon of
tranquil warm seawater with an area of 180 sq.km is separated from the Mediterranean by
the La Manga strip and provides safe sandy beaches and great
water sports opportunities: canoeing, windsurfing, kitesurfing
and sailing. Or you can enjoy a leisurely cruise to La
Manga.
Los Alcazares is a charming
resort and has been a favourite seaside destination of the Spanish for over 100
years. The 10km promenade links Los Alcazares and Los Narejos
and a makes a pleasant cycle route with endless beachside cafes and tapas bars
along the way.
All the resorts on the mainland side of the Mar
Menor are 'low rise' with no high-rise blocks, which gives the
area an unspoilt charm and adds to the unique appeal of this
region.
The
coast to the north of the Mar Menor provides many long beaches
with golden sand where the waves of the open sea can be
enjoyed.
Campoamor is the nearest
resort to the north and has lovely beaches sheltered by
cliffs.
Guadamar is just north of
Torrevieja and has splendid beaches which stretch for miles, so there is always
room to relax and enjoy the space, even in the high season.
